Latina, That's a pretty good scenario with the faked death.

I agree with dodgerman....good idea, latina. It certainly looked like he might die from that torture... I hate those beatings and when they spread their legs with poles or burn them......the battles and that bloodiness doesn't bother me but the torture does..... Yes, why would Ming put a foreigner in such an important position as Pongae has....

Isn't Pongae the same guy that readily and willingly got castrated so he could join them? I guess that kind of allegiance wouldn't be questioned/doubted.

Yep Linda, but he who castrated him and trained him was the Joseonse CIA, not Ming, how come that Wang truth him so much? ?,

Ouch, I forgot that castration part.....yes, it does seem strange that the Ming let him get so high up - you'd think they would have checked his background a bit better to find out that he was part of the group that was close to the King back in the day....

Well, tonight was a two hanky episode - I was shocked when Jang Youngsil reappeared.....my goodness....didn't think he would have walked again after the 100 lashes.... Cute when the little monk boys are echoing the King and the scholars. Choi Manli certainly got nasty and Jo Malseng is almost a sweetheart - funny when he said CM was like he was 20 years ago. Looks like the Ming guys are on to Ponggae.....

Yes, mara I was surprised when I saw Jang Younsil alive, and the reaction from Choin Haesan, I thought that he will be happy that the King save him (kind of) and hiden him from Ming... and Choi Manli is getting on my nerves...

Only 2 more episodes - sad last night when Choe Hassan (sp?) died but he was amazingly faithful to Jang Youngsil - they had a better father-son relationship than most who are really father and son, I guess. Well, finally Hanshou (sp?) and his evil face are gone...looks like Pongae may pull through. I liked when Jo Malseng told Choi Manli (sp?) to figure a way out of the diplomatic problem with the Ming - and hasn't JM become a good guy - forecast by others here. ;-)

I liked last night episode, I couldn't figure out what good was to have a human body for disection(sip), and it made a lot of sense, King Sejong indeed was a very smart man with a vision on the future. From 51 character from the chinese alphabet he came up with 28 . I read that took a lot of time for officials to start using the new system, as well some official Korean document still are written in a mixed of Hangul and chinese characters...

After killing a number of important Joseonese men, with one measely slash of the sword Haishou dies. Not slow poisoned, bound, lashed 100 times then stabbed?
The previews seem to show Choi Manli just simply walking away from it all... I hope there's an ambush waiting for him. I want to see this man lashed lol.

lol, Linda - it's KDR - Korean Drama Redemption - I learned that on another board and I guess it's the same with the historicals as well - at the end people seem to be excused for their past sins....
latina, one of my friends who was previously studying Japanese started to study Hangul after getting hooked onto Korean dramas and he said it's amazingly easy after the three writing forms of Japanese....

latina, one of my friends who was previously studying Japanese started to study Hangul after getting hooked onto Korean dramas and he said it's amazingly easy after the three writing forms of Japanese.... it doesn't look so difficult, but chinese and Japanes forget about it. I can't believe there is just one episode left with some much going on this drama...

Yes, the last episode was okay - I liked them showing so many of the characters at the big celebration - I love those hats with the dangling beads.... I liked this drama as a whole - it covered quite a long period and it was not all fighting like many of the other ones I've seen - a lot of interesting history was covered. So now we have a five episode short drama.... eastnewyorker.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=30&page=1
