Excellent as usual poodlepal!!!The only thing you missed is in the modern dramas, the bad girl( who will go to all lengths to take the guy away from the good girl heroine )is usually so much cuter than the heroine.

"Geumok - I am your Father - Come to the Dark Side"Some additional comments. For those who think Mr. Sa got off easy. I watched the 1st episode again. He may not have started as a good man, maybe just an average man. He made a mistake and it led to his ruination. When confronted by Maknye with a child, he offered to marry her. He began as a young man from the countryside, little education, little money. But he offered to do the decent thing. That was a non-starter. So he looked around for options. Suddenly his child was the decoy baby. The Bong family treated the baby shamefully, especially the grand-mother. He saw a terrible future for his daughter. So when an opportunity presented itself he made a bad decision. To save his daughter he would disrupt the natural order of things. And then, at least she would be safe, and he could watch her grow up. They could be friends. But, but, but . . . But it didn't work out. She didn't know why he was around. She didn't like him. She thought he was a meddler. She told him to leave her room. To leave her house. To get out of her life. He loved her but she hated him. She would not even call him 'uncle', just 'Mister'. He had no joy. He lived in a small room rather than a nice apartment (which he could afford) so he could be near her. But she said "I can't be happy if you are around. You must leave." He went down a dark road for her and it became a hell on earth. Only once did Geumok call him father, at the end, but it was too late. He had already gone to hell. One lie led to another, and another. And terrible behavior, crimes. If Samsaeng was the hero. Gajin Sa was the villain. But even villains have a back story. Good men can go bad. How about Darth Vader? "Geumok. I am your Father. Come to the Dark Side. Join me in living these lies."Drama needs not just a worthy and admirable hero, but a serious villain. Even a villain with his reasons. That's much more interesting than a one-dimensional bag guy. A tragic tale. But Samsaeng survives, and thrives, and is vindicated.

I just did a last four episode marathon.....I wasn't thrilled with the ending. It seemed they glossed over the wedding of Samsaeng and Dongwu - I didn't even realize they were married - and the deaths of the two doctors and instead threw in all sorts of flashbacks.
I agree Sa got off easy. And as dodgerman said, seeing him in the last scene with the three others was poor.....

I actually teared up a bit when I saw them all standing there at the end. Mara...aren't you in France...WTH are you looking at dramas?

lol, grace, I got home last night in the middle of Eunhee - I did watch a couple of episodes online - the weekend ones and the first Eunhee episode when I was away...after all, one needs a break from sightseeing...
Yes, I also teared up at the end - I know most of the dramas usually end quite abruptly and there is some sort of family photo - often at a wedding. But usually dead people are not included. I have been thinking about the last 3 TV Novels we have seen - can't really figure out which I liked the best. They all did have a main theme of a kid with confusing birth but they all took off from there. This was the first with a murder as far as I can remember.
I thought Samsaeng really looked pretty in the last episode with her new hairdo and smile...I thought that Geumok and Jiseong were not going away together - she to Paris and he to Germany - didn't he tell her to lie so Samsaeng would move on from him. So how did they end up coming home together. I am confused as usual...;-)

Sammy looked brighter, modern and pretty...married life did her good!
I was wondering about that also, but then again its KDrama Land where everyone is near everyone else no matter how far they are or congested a city is, they always meet, its fate...lol.. I'm sure they spoke while away and decided to come back for the school opening wasn't that the excuse?

I guess they came back for the baby's first birthday. Maybe the plane had a lay over at one of their countries.
Tom--interesting analysis. You write very well. There is a blog that I read about writing, and the blogger (named Kristen Lamb) often points out how the villain Darth Vader went too far, in her estimation, to be a sympathetic villain, when he killed some children. I feel the same about Sa. When he turned in his best friend's son to be tortured by evil spies, so he could get away with killing a man, it was just too much. Overall, this was a great work of fiction if people are still trying to figure out people's characters a week after it ended. I think it is 50% that Mr. Sa was a tragic villain who loved his daughter too much/50% sociopath who wanted to exploit his daughter for his own financial gain.
Analysis from my mother: Everyone wound up with the person who saved them. Sammy--saved Dongwu by untying him Dongwu--saved Sammy various times over the years Geumok--saved Jiseong from the evil spies Jiseong--saved Geumok from being shunned and becoming a spinster
Anyway, this was far and away the best of the three "novels" to me. Bokhui's tale had its charms, but was too dark with off screen deaths of babies and all the child abuse she was subjected to. Love My Love just fizzled out with the marriage of convenience. At least here she wound up married to someone she loved.
