I guess not, because the price keeps going down. He just wants to go to the "States" no doubt and start over. Lucky us!

...So, I'm guessing Mr. Sa won't be a repeat customer to the Rent-A-Thug warehouse?

The theme of this show seems to be "Don't obsess over loves you can't have." Each 3 dimensional character has that as his or her flaw.
Geumok: Obsessed with Jiseong, and then, to a lesser extent, Dongwu. Her obsession with J led her to do the one (possibly) unselfish thing in her life, although it was partially for "revenge" for Samsaeng "stealing" him. I'm not sure if it was good or bad that she saved Jiseong, though it was clearly wrong that she turned in Sammy. The Oh's had an odd reaction, didn't seem grateful at all.
Dr. Hwang: As Sara pointed out, he threw away his career over the loss of Mrs. Bong. Sammy's "mother": Her obsession with Mr. Sa caused her to do help cover up a crime. Landlady: Obsessed with Mr. Sa as well, causes her to be hostile to Sammy's mother, although there are plenty of other reasons as well why you wouldn't like that woman.
Mr. Sa: If his motivation was really to win his daughter's love by switching her with a rich girl, he has the most bizarre and flawed reasoning of them all. Can't quite decide if that's just a crock--I still think he just wants money.
I hope there's some justice and Mr. Sa isn't just shot by another bad guy without ever being convicted of anything, but that's how it's looking.

So yesterday we heard from Doc Hwang that Samsaeng's mom died in childbirth - had that ever come up before? Even so why did Doc Bong have no photos or ever mention her - no annual ritual or is that just for men?
And today - is Sa the most self-centered person ever....everything revolves around him - he blames everyone else for what he does - I can't remember another character like that.....

mara, at the beginning when granny was a life they mentioned that the wife died at childbirth.
I agreed I want to see Mr. Sa been punished, I don't know how Geumok is going to live in that house with that attitude, anyway it seen I'm going to be disappointed with the end...

Boy oh boy...Geumok is really delusional ...she was good last night, I think she is losing it and grasping at straws. As Mara said, why don't they show her memorial every year like in every other K drama its a HUGE deal. That way we would have seen a black and white photo of Mom and Sammy could see what she looked like. Lots of holes in this story. 5 more episodes to go and we are done.

yes, grace I think at that time they shouldn't have many pictures, but at least the wedding pictures, I don't think I have seen a memorial for female, like granny or mothers before, only for men. They should have showed at least Doc visiting her tomb with Geomuk once..., like Doc did with his mother...

Doc is probably so obsessed with his late wife that he can barely think of her or look at her picture, that's my guess.
Geumok's actress is very good, bringing some pathos to what could be a one-dimensional villainess. The actress playing Sammy doesn't have much to do other than look miserable. Only when she was solving the father's murder did she show any spunk. Her character is supposed to be very likable, but it doesn't always come out that way.
If Doc had any sense, he'd find a husband for Geumok pronto, and send her off with him. Then he'd find one for Sammy, send her off, and that way he wouldn't have to live with either of them.
Don't you love the subplot about the singing sister? I imagine her agent complained that his client sat there in crowd scenes for 120 episodes and had not one single storyline about her, so they threw one in at the last minute. Her English is really good.

Geumok really isnt even that evil like some of the other bad girls--Subin in the one with Sabby, Saewa in the one with Donghae, the bio Mom of the kid in Happiness in the Wind ( I think). She also is not as pretty as any of them and neither is Sammy. They are both plain and badly dressed. Could Ms hae pick out an uglier dress " in the market"for Sammy --orange with that huge collar???

PoodlePal...I forgot to mention the singing scene...lol...that came out of no where. Now the record owner with rich parents is a record producer and JUST happens on sister singing an American song...WTH?? That was thrown in probably for the end when we may see her as the next great Korean singer. Like that actress in the last novel we saw and became Korea's best loved actress but gave it all up because she was found out. Gezzz...the writer must have been short of plots and stuck that in to fill the time.

Wow! I didn't realize/remember how awful the Bongs were to that decoy baby, just waiting for "it" to die. No wonder Mr. Sa was so mad. I was actually on his side a little bit in that last scene. Dr Bong is an idiot. He's a man of science and he couldn't stand up to his mother when she did something incredibly cruel on the advice of a shaman? Yeah, I know. Back in Korea in 1949, babies died left and right and it was a different time and culture, etc. But I still think he's a bit of a tool.
What should happen on Monday: Nurse: What wonderful daughters you have, Dr. Bong. One stood in front of you when a madman pointed a gun

I will be out of town from tomorrow until late evening a week from Monday so I will not see the last four episodes until I get home and hopefully they will have been successfully recorded on my DVD recorder as I can't find them online....so I will not be looking at this thread....
As far as the next drama - I will try to contact WMBC next week and confirm - I know we all assume it will be the next TV Novel - and then set it up at least provisionally until I get home.
Enjoy the last four episodes!
I thought that Geumok got shot last night.....

That was one of the worst episodes of television I've ever seen. This man shot, tortured, switched, bribed and stole from everyone, yet he was allowed to just walk around wherever he wanted, begging for forgiveness and getting it. And he threatened to "not forgive" Samsaeng's "mother"? What is wrong with these people? What is wrong with the police department? They are idiots.
Doc--TDTL Geumok--TDTL Samsaeng--TDTL Mr. Sa--evil, and TDTL Tomorrow everyone will be grieving for Mr. Sa and crying, and everyone will forgive him.
Forgive must mean something else in Korean culture. The word must not translate properly somehow. Because, really, who the hell would forgive someone like him? And why should you?
