... What should we do if they don't listen to us? Should we find a show on the internet and all watch it at 9:30? A great idea - we can't break up our little family.... we could watch something on Dramafever or another site - I know we tried to do that before but this time there is no drama on TV.....

We should look at the longer ones they are on (well everything on DF) only twice a week. I started a longer drama, I can wait till you all catch up. Its a cute one and guess what...they have CELL PHONES...lol...

Strange is the human nature.. we flog it when it is there but we miss it when it is gone.. so is our saga with Korean dramas.
Mara as administrator of this board can do a few things:
1. You can keep afloat the board by asking the members to post things of general interest till KBS/WMBC decides to revert its decision about Korean dramas.
2. Alternately, Mara as an administrator has all our emails and contact the existing members as and when the board is revived. (Don't change the board name)
3. Also they have similar boards in Chicago and California Mara can contact their administrators and find out how they are coping with the problem.
4. For all we know we may be wrong and KBS/WMBC may just continue with the current format.
5. Otherwise, let us say thanks for the run and move on with our lives and thanks for the memories.

Good ideas, sara79... 1. No problem - just post under the General Board - I can start a new thread for general interest stuff. 2. No need to cancel the board - we can do number 1 and just check back every so often - the board doesn't go anywhere if no one posts. 3. In California they have numerous kdramas on various stations so this is not an issue for them. They just updated their kdrama listing the other day: bcjkdramasincalifornia.runboard.com/t169772Chicago hasn't had dramas for a long time - I think they discuss something on DF. Same with the Philly board.... 4. Fine with me- but the person I spoke with seemed to know - everyone, feel free to call - let them know we're out here.... 5. I don't care for that option.....

That sounds good - can you give us some more info - we would need to set up a schedule - not so much for watching but for posting so there wouldn't be spoilers.....We could start next week - if you give me the info I can set it up...since I'm out of the country I can't watch DF but I will catch up when I get home the end of the month....

Getting back to Eunhui....Cha is unbelievable - he's like the energizer bunny - won't admit to doing anything wrong.....I almost feel sorry for Granny - she was conned for over 20 years....and lol....the VP appears to be behind the money lender....I was sort of thinking when Kang introduced Cha to the ML that there was something more to it but I guess it slipped my mind.....two more episodes.....

Mara, Your points are well taken.. We are down to the last two episodes in "Eunhui" and writers are speeding up to tie the loose ends. What started as a minor role the VP is encompassing the show for good. VP is becoming all powerful and bodes well for the future of Seoul Hotel enterprises. If you noticed VP influenced assemblyman switch the sides, he could get the Director of Police transfer the Incheon Police Chief, he got the money lender go after Tofu factory and the house and could go to the cell in Namsan where Cha was being tortured for his alleged spying. With his level head the Seoul Hotel is in safe hands and great things can be expected from him. (Now fast forward 40 years later, did any one check how did things turn out..!!!) As a side bar ABC has a new comedy "Fresh off the boat" with Asian background !!!!

I think it was a waste of time the communist plot, yes Mr. Cha got hurt, but he came out worst than before, so makes VP look bad, Seongjeo looks pathetic, terrible. My computer broke down, I don't own a tablet, so I just have my cellular phone for watching any drama

I think VP is just taking on his Mom's role of power. He realizes he has to step up, even if he doesn't really like what he has to do (release Cha) for someone he loves and respects. Cha's acting is really good in this, going from sane to insane at the flip of a switch. I feel for Granny as mean as she is she is going to lose everything, and Seongae deserves what he gets for covering up from the start, if he didn't this wouldn't have happened, he needed a kick in the butt.

What I don't like in these 1970s shows is that it is sort of a dystopia setting--it's almost as bad as the Hunger Games or Brave New World.
Apparently there is no police force who could put this man on trial for what he really did. Why did he have to be framed as a spy (which he was not) and tortured (yuck) by an evil police force run by the VP (supposedly a nice character?) And how common was it to have an evil police force at your beck and call back then, to frame fake Communists? Mr. Sa had one as well. Was it like hiring a maid or a service to clean your gutters? Did they have ads in the paper for "Evil fake police force to frame people for communism?"
No, they ruined the chance for this show to truly have a happy ending.
Interestingly, I have a new insight into Korean translations. I think "I won't forgive you" means "I'll take revenge on you." What they seem to think of as forgiveness is not the Western meaning of the word. Why would Eunhui have to forgive Mr. Cha, except for her own health and keeping her blood pressure down? She could just marry someone other than Seongjae, have nothing to do with him, move on with her life, and think any bad thing she wants about him. But it doesn't necessarily mean she has to support him being water boarded.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I think we should go to Drama Fever or Crunchyroll and take a look at whatever is the newest show. That way, we'll all be at around the same spot. I will check out Grace's suggestion, though, it does look cute.

I just finished Sly & Single Again on DF which was cute and starred Lee Min Jung who is really pretty. I have a few on list list---some of which are still airing in Korea so all of the episodes have not been translated.: Shining Romance A New Leaf Golden Cross Doctor Stranger Emergency Couple and 3 older ones Faith, Playful Kiss & Missing YOU. I am open to any suggestions so that we can watch something together. We can do it at our own pace and time and have a set day to post so we don't have spoilers--like watch 4 eps a week and post Sunday.

Why did Cha have to be framed as a spy...
One word will answer ...McCarthyism..campaign against alleged communists in the US government and other institutions carried out under Senator Joseph McCarthy in the period 1950–54.
McCarthyism is the practice of making accusations of disloyalty, subversion, or treason without proper regard for evidence. It also means "the practice of making unfair allegations or using unfair investigative techniques, especially in order to restrict dissent or political criticism.During the McCarthy era, thousands of Americans were accused of being communists or communist sympathizers and became the subject of aggressive investigations and questioning before government or private-industry panels, committees and agencies.
If this was happening in the USA during that period just imagine the plight of small countries like Korea, Vietnam< Cambodia surrounded by communist giants China and Soviet Union.
