Watching this is like sitting and watching paint dry . The suicidally creepy background music just adds to the tedium.

OMG!!! Where are the lights in this?? I could be in another room and just listen to the audio if I understood what they were saying and it would be the same thing. Did they not have those big studio lights back then? Two hours Sat and Sun of nothing specific...like dodgerman said tedious in every way. If back in the 90's I saw this I don't think I would have ever started watching K dramas (maybe thats not a bad thing...lol...) Happy Thanksgiving to you and your families.

Here's the rundown
Chan-hyuk: My love and I come from different worlds. I didn't go to art school and work at a printing press and possibly live there, too, or possibly in a junkyard. Or maybe just a messy apartment.
Hyo-kyung: I'm dying of a broken heart. I'm in the hospital, but I think I'll get dressed and go do what I want, then go back to the hospital. I'll go see Chan-hyuk and cry because we live in different worlds.
Next scene CH: Go back to the hospital, you're sick. Stop getting dressed, putting on all your makeup and walking around town
HK: Opa, I love you. I don't care if we come from different worlds.
Next Scene: HK: I think I'll check out of the hospital and stalk Chan-hyuk for a while. Chan-Hyuk: Wherever you are, I almost see you again, but then I change my mind because we come from different worlds.
Then, because the drama is moving too quickly, it's time to slow it down a little bit. Dad: I think I'll go over and sing some Korean folk songs with the guy with the acoustic guitar Sis: I made some fish, but I won't eat it, I'm giving it all to Chan-Woo. Chan-Woo: Please, eat the fish. Sis: No, you eat it, you're studying to be a lawyer. Chan-Woo: I'll go to the store and buy some fish. Guitar guy and Dad: Start singing.
That's pretty much it. I fell asleep for the last few minutes, so maybe I missed something.

lol, everyone - good comments.
As far as complaints, I think I said before, besides the poor lighting, there is a real lack of subtitles - you can sort of figure it out but I find it annoying.
As grace said, if this was my first kdrama it probably would be my last.....
I liked the way Kyo-hyung sprinted after Chan-Hyuk's truck - she doesn't seem ill to me.
And also C-H is a factory worker - what's up with all the personal phone calls he receives and makes at the job as well as his seeming use of the truck whenever he needs it....

I have an addendum to make.
Dad: What a good time we had singing folk songs Sis: What a nice fish I just ate CH: What a nice cry I had thinking of my first love and how we're from different worlds CW: I have to study for this test (Knock on the door) Korean mafia! We've come to beat you all up
For several minutes, gangsters trash the house. After this burst of violence, we're back to more studying, brooding, eating and singing.

No spoilers are needed. They give the plot away on Wikipedia. Be aware of that if you want to use that source to look up an actor's name, etc.
Here's a spoiler of what will happen tonight. Hyokyung: I'm dying. I have to stay in bed, but first I'll go out with Chan-Hyuk at the restaurant. CH: I'm so glad to see you, HK. But we come from different worlds. CW: No! I'll put you through the art academy. You can draw a head! Sis: Hi everybody! CW: Come join us. We're having fish. Sis: No thank you. Well, maybe just a little. Dad: This here is a world famous guitar player Guitar Man: I'm not world famous. You thought I was world famous? CW: Oh my God! I just remembered I have to go to a debate. Sis, eat my fish while I'm gone HK: I have to go, too. I'm dying and need to lie on my bed for a while.
HK: Hi, dad. I went to the bathroom. I don't feel good and can't go to school. HK's dad: Call the chairman, who's really a woman. HK's mom: Why? Dad: I don't know, we're always calling her for some reason. Maybe she can break the law and get HK a tutor. Mom: We can call my brother. Dad: No, he's a bum. Mention him again and I'll throw you out of the house.
Meanwhile: CW: You don't agree with my point in the debate? (Beats all the other debaters up).

I wonder why it was illegal to have a private tutor? When it came out that Chan-woo was a private tutor I thought the problem was law students weren't allowed to tutor for some reason but evidently tutoring is illegal for all.....strange..... Chan-woo is quite a fighter as well - that was sad when the food cart was destroyed by those thugs. So who thinks Hyo-kyung's mom wants her to marry Suk-jin (sp?)....pretty obvious - he did seem awfully embarrassed to see her in a bathrobe - for goodness sake she was dressed.....lol.... I do hope the Chan-ock ends up with the guitarist.

1-Art Girl was a private tutor and that was the same time period as this. 2--Sukjin should be embarassed. He knocked on the door but them he strolled right in without waiting for Hyo KY Pokey to let him in. 3-If Canock ends up with Guitar Man, will the child be Anna???

dodgerman - I think Art Girl was quite a bit earlier - according to the synopsis that TV Novel took place in the '70s. I just re-watched the first episode beginning of this one and when they were still young in the moving truck it was the Summer of 1975 - so by the time they are all now in Seoul it must be at least ten years later if not more, don't you think? So that would bring it more into the late '80's.....
Sukjin shouldn't have walked in, of course, but he does have a sister the same age so I would think he would have seen a woman in a bathrobe before...
No comment on your last.... ;-)

No, this would be the era in which Carl was conceived, so the baby would be Carl. I confess I didn't see Guitar Man in the brothel, but I called it when they thought HK was in the bathroom when she was sneaking out with Chan Hyuk.
I like Sukjin, and I would imagine they'd prefer HK to marry the Chairmanwoman's son. There seems to be no mystery between them, though.
I actually get this confused with Eunhee. They seem almost like the same show except for all the destruction on this one.
Rich Woman: Tofu Owner, Chairman woman Rich Guy: Theater Owner, Mr. Cha. Both have seemingly nice wives Rich Girl: HK, Braid Girl Friend of Rich Girl like a brother: Sukjin, Seonjae Nice poor boy: Jeongtae, both "Chan" brothers Middle aged guy with soup store in both
There doesn't seem to be a central female character in "First Love" like Eunhee, nor is there anyone like Sis or Guitar Man in "Eunhee." But besides that, they could be the same show.
