So Gramma died and became a klieg light in the sky? Cheeeeeeesy. Though I did like the bit where she prayed to Buddha and called for her own shroud.
Oh, no, not another tax audit, with only three episodes to go! Tax audits seem to be more common than cancer on these shows. Is the taxing authority particularly aggressive in Korea? Or is this one of those public service messages - like wearing seatbelts and not smoking - that gets woven into every drama?
One thing I still don't get - The rice wine only lasts a few days. But Seoul is less than a day's drive away (we've seen people come and go), and Mr. Hong owns bars. If you put the wine on the truck early in the morning, and you had a really efficient distribution network (e.g. through Mr. Hong), you could get it into the bars and into people's glasses the same evening, before it spoiled. They manage to bring fish to Seoul, and that spoils quickly too.

The next drama is set in the 70s too? That's too bad. I want to see hot new Samsung cell phones in everyone's hands again.

Latina, I usually watch on dramacrazy. if it isnt on there, I try dramafever. I stick to ones that are between 15-25 eps. Each episode is broen up into 4 -15 minute parts so you dont have to watch an entire episode at once. MY favorites so far are City Hunter and TEN which are not love story kdramas like we get. Thanks dodgerman I can manager to watch 25 episodes!

I never thought about Mr. Hong selling the wine, but I think they said that the people from the capital likes better Soju...

I watched the first episode from last week on a website with no esubs but I got the gist of it - the site I used to watch on, aveoh.net, was evidently taken down....I might have to bite the bullet now and actually learn how to download......

Remember the Chill Sisters weekend drama? Two unrelated sisters were raised as twins. One was the orphaned child of the father's army buddy, who just happened to be almost the same age as his bio-daughter when he adopted her as an infant. Eventually they figured out that they weren't really twins.

I noticed that Yeonpyo wrote the resignation letter on chinese caracters, and the signs are in chinese, but Mija was teaching her son to write her name she was using korean, I wonder when the Korean writing started to be used ...
I don't get WHY Bokhui's mother has to cried like that, she hold a grudge against Bokham, and Bokham's mother, she doesn't like Junyeong, but the woman who made her life miserable, that mistreated her daughter, now is a saint, PLEASE!

latina, from watching the kdramas I think business letters like the resignation one are always written using the Chinese characters - I've seen that before. I remember in one of the dramas I saw quite a while back - it might even be Chill Sisters but I''m really not sure - that when one of the characters wrote up his resume it was in Chinese characters and the woman he gave it to, a shop owner, couldn't read it....lol....
Well, I cried along with Jeongae......lol.....I think over the years she got over most of her grudges and she was really touched that Granny patted her at the temple and said she was a good DIL......
I have watched three of the last five episodes online - unfortunately the old site where I watched it - aveoh.net - has been taken down and I can only find it without esubs but I get the gist of it....

What happened to aveoh? Didn't they have the rightst to those shows?
Yes, this sounds like the chill sisters, but I bet it's not as funny. I loved it when the shallow sister ran away and met up with the nurse that was even more shallow than she was, who kept singing L-o-l-l-o-v-e ( a song from the mid 00s.). I have a feeling that all the ones called TV novels are kind of downers, but hopefully I'm wrong.
Interestingly, it always seems that dressing in traditional costume, using traditional writing, etc. is always in the very recent past on these shows. Remember, there was an episode of High Kick when the doctor father was wearing traditional clothing in a flashback from 10-20 years before. That would be the 80s or 90s. If that was realistic, if anyone knows, let me know, because it doesn't seem it would be.
