Grace, I havent seen any of those 3. I will put them on my list. I also only watch the 10-25 ep shows on line. I have seen serious ones like City Hunter, Ten & SIGN, typical Kdrama ones like I am Sam, Boys Before Friends, You're Beautiful & Man of Honor.

This is sad. This show is so pathetic, people are resorting to talking about other k dramas, LOL!
Now that it's almost finished, what do you wish they had done differently?
Here's my suggestions to fix "Bokhui" in case they ever want to make a remake:
1. Lighten up the back story. Bokhui needed to be separated from Boknam so they could have their dramatic reunion, but did the reasons they were separated have to be so dark? I mean, the cheating, cruel stepmother, abandonment, then the horrific treatment by Bokhui's own mother, so she could save face?
I would re-do it by having maybe the parents split up, then have the stepmother and father die in an accident. After they get to Dokcheon, I'd have Boknam claimed by some relative or another and Bokhui could maybe get sent out to work as a nanny or in a factory because there was a recession in the wine industry, and they couldn't afford her. I'd leave out the cruelty to her by those who were supposed to love her.
2. I'd also drop the "off-screen" tragedies. I mean, Mija left to die years ago? The dead kid we've never seen? Aren't the on-screen tragedies tragic enough?
3. In retrospect, I might lose the character of the teacher all together. Have Geumju in love with Yeongpyo as a teen, and develop a relationship between Bokhui and Mr. Hong. As it is now, he shows up here and there, but they don't really have too many scenes together.
4. Eunju is also a completely redundant character, but I'm glad she seemed to--ahem--enjoy herself last night. But I'd get rid of her, too, or have her do something other than mope. The maid/niece is also one character too many, although she's sort of likable.
5. I'd get a funnier actress to play Mija--maybe Park Haemi?--and turn her and the husband into true comic villains. As for Taeju--I don't know what I'd do with that story. I wish the father would do his fatherly duty now that it's determined that Taeju is a genius and can handle some--ahem--frank talk.

Has anyone else tried the wine? This show was making me thirsty - and curious. I found a Korean herbal rice wine called "Bek Se Ju" in a liquor store on Long Island. It's got 12 herbs, just like the one in the show (indeed I wonder if they're a sponsoring advertiser for this show in Korea), and it's delicious - kind of fruity and yeasty. It looks like there's a cloudy rice wine called "Makkoli" available in the US too. (I haven't gotten around to trying the obvious places, like Fort Lee or Koreatown, yet.)

Latina, I usually watch on dramacrazy. if it isnt on there, I try dramafever. I stick to ones that are between 15-25 eps. Each episode is broen up into 4 -15 minute parts so you dont have to watch an entire episode at once. MY favorites so far are City Hunter and TEN which are not love story kdramas like we get.

Nobody even commented on the big bombshell dropped on Friday. Bunok is pregnant! Normally, people would be grossed out or making some kind of comment about how this must have happened, but now it's like, "Eh, what else is on." I actually can't think of anything funny to say myself. The show is so depressing, I'm like, I wonder what they'll do to the kid. Kill him in a freak accident? Send him to the orphanage? Give him a disease that there's a cure for, but that won't work for him?
I hope the next show is better than this, because another one like this and the message board will die like so many others I've been on have.

I wish I could fast forward time so this show would end already lol. I hope there isn't a drama worst than this one to come because that would be a sad shame. I've put this at the top of my worst kdrama list, handsdown. When it's not despressingly sad, it's depressingly pointless. -I thought I had replied to the comment about Korean wine the other night but I pressed the wrong button lol. I've never checked before but I bumped into a store in Astoria that sells Soju. I haven't been back since, but I will be sure to ask them about the wine too, sounds delicious.

I bought a bottle of soju this winter and it is very strong. I had rice wine in China and is is very tasty and sweet. I will have to go to the liquor store and try to find rice wine or herbal wine .

Suzanne, I'm glad! Every show needs a die-hard fan, and Dear My Sister has you! The show is not really that bad--it hasn't gone completely off the rails like You Are My Destiny. It's just slow and lacks the campiness and lighter moments of most K-dramas. The bad characters aren't that bad, the men aren't that dreamy and kind, and too many sad things have happened, giving it an all over blah feeling. But it's not afraid to tackle serious topics, and it does have a cast of generally likable characters overcoming obstacles. I think it's like Little House on the Prairie. All these terrible things happen, but the family just keeps going on because they love each other (or at least they do now. Nobody loved Bokhui and Boknam when they were 12 and 6). Looking forward to Love my Love!

Meh. It's another "TV novel" and it sounds dark, though possibly not as bad as this last one. I miss the "Bizarre Bunch/Pure in Heart/Smile Donghae" type of dramas, with the mother-in-law, the company, and some sort of design/cooking contest. I'm depressed enough at work, I don't need to see some "triumph over adversity" every night.
