Glad to have another voice. I am not sure if the blue & red robes represent the army faction and the civilian faction or just two opposing parties or families. They gotta do something about those goofy hats!!!

"In Ep1 you saw a brief flashback to the Second Princes’ Rebellion. During King Taejo’s reign there were a pair of bloody conflicts in which princes killed each other seeking the throne. Yi Bangwon was the prince we saw in the flashback; he survived the conflicts and became Taejong, the present king. The other two people fighting with Bangwon in that flashback were the two Min brothers. The Min clan backed Bangwon with the “muscle” he needed to be victorious. So now, the Mins and their sister the queen are strongly behind Yangnyeong being crown prince—not so much because they think he’s the best, but because they desperately want to avoid a repeat in which princes are killing each other. Choongnyeong has become a threat to the peaceful succession in their eyes, and they don’t want any such thing happening.
The Goryeo loyalists are against Yangnyeong just because he’s going to be the next king of the regime that butchered the Goryeo royal descendants. It’s not that they admire Choongnyeong, they just want any kind of chaos that will topple the Joseon regime so they can reinstate Goryeo.
One thing about this series, in the early episodes they do presume that you have some knowledge of the historical background. So if you’re as clueless as I was, you have to do some homework. If you browse the other threads here you’ll find some that give good links and background information that will help as you watch.
About the cutting of scenes: The first two episodes ran longer than an hour, so I’m guessing WYBE cut scenes to get them down to an hour. That must be what they were doing instead of answering their telephone.
P.S. Choongnyeong is the queen’s son; it’s prince Kyoungnyeong who’s the son of consort Hyobin." I'm not sure is it is OK to do this, but this was writen by a member of the Chicago Korean Drama Fan, back last year when this drama was aired in Chicago. It really cleared somethings for me, I hope that it would be helpful to everybody

latina, I'm sure there is no problem as long as you use quote marks and give credit to the board where you found the info. That's the board where I read all the episode summaries of Iron Empress which were cut so badly on WMBC - towards the end I watched them online as well....
Great photo - I thought he looked familiar - but that was Jolly Widows, not the Road Home, but you sure had the right actor....

Well, considering each drama has two or three different English interpretations of its Korean title - that's very easy. And I can certainly never remember actor's names at all....even the ones I really like. ;D

I agree with you, latina - although I did figure out that the brother Mins are the queen's brothers but then I got lost like you did. It seems that there are summaries on the Chicago board - you have to start at the back of it so I guess I will read them just like I did with Iron Empress that was butchered so badly by WMBC. But, at the end when the prince is taken away - he says he doesn't want to be shackled so his wife and servants won't be ashamed of him.....wife.....he seems to be about 13 years old - what's up with that?

if I remember from Iron Empress, they betroth the Royal princes at a very earlier age so the allliances will be in place. This drama reminds me of the War of the Roses which also took place around the late 1400's in England with each family siding with one prince and trying to get more power through marrying off their daughters.

You are right dodgerman, Louis XVI married at 16 to Marie Antonie of Austria, she was 14, in the XVIII century. Last night episode was at little confusing at the end, I guess we hve to wait until next saturday to see what happens

In the last few scenes, you see the little prince walking and you see him in snow and summer which means time is progressing. When the scene ends, the little prince has aged about 6 years.

Mara, Dodge, and Latina, you guys are great to keep the board going. I'm ashamed I gave up on it for a while. It's good to be back.
So far I'm liking GKS, but then I like all historicals, even lame ones like Iron Empress. BTW, isn't young Prince Choong's older bro the same who played IE's nutso elder son ? He's a wonderful actor. I'm so tickled when I recognize faces from drama to drama. I guess I'm beginning to be a pro. (But never as pro as those guys from the Chi and Philly boards.)

Also, anybody know anything about the founders of this board? Jason (Eastnewyorker) and I think, Brooklyn?

Also, anybody know anything about the founders of this board? Jason (Eastnewyorker) and I think, Brooklyn? They seem to have disappeared into cyberspace....luckily, the board seems to exist okay on its own...at least so far.....welcome back again...
