LOL...Mara...that was my opinion...not a spoiler...you just too used to me looking ahead. I haven't had the time yet to do so. Its just so obvious that this is the way things go in these melodramas.

This drama has defied some cliches so far, but here's my prediction (not a spoiler): Remember how they briefly mentioned Eunhui had sewing talent? This will become her traditional Korean talent (TKT) that is mandatory in these "novels." She will give up bookkeeping and make hanboks and win a contest. Both men will fall in love with her.
Braid girl will go to the piano competition and place dead last. She will blame Eunhui and spend months just telling her off.
I have a bad feeling the mother will die of TB. She's just too nice and stable.
Photography boy will take a picture of a communist and get in big trouble, even if he didn't know he was a communist.
Piano girl will become the biggest pop star in Korea but will tell everyone she's an orphan.

Well, TB isn't really funny . But it is a staple plot of the "novels." I'm understanding this better, but it is still too slow with too many characters who have confusing relationships to one another. I'm actually liking the weekend drama a little better now, at least you can tell who the main characters are. Eunhui is almost an extra.

You got me. this is how I understand it.
Eunhui and her mother--new in town. Several of the mother's co-workers/old friends from the soup store, including fake Dongwoo. There is the woman with the bangs and at least two middle-aged men Mr. Cha, Mrs. Cha Two children being raised by the Chas, braid girl and fake Jiseong Mr. Im's nasty mother Mr. Im's nasty cousin, nephew to nasty grandma The cousin's annoying wife
Coffee woman, the cousin's girlfriend (sort of)
The plot: Fake Jiseong (Sangjae) took pictures of the plain Eunhui, and she's falling in love. Braid/Piano girl likes him
Mr. Cha is guilty/paranoid schizophrenic and hears voices/flashbacks every so often, like every five minutes. He has to keep Nasty Granny away from Eunhui's mother, because Mrs. Eunhui will insist her husband wasn't guilty, and granny might figure out who killed her repulsive son and throw him out of the tofu factory.
That's it for the plot. It's not much.

lol...dodgerman - he does look like a guy from the Sopranos....I think he is the resident thug - he seems to want to get some money from the fake Dongwu, Songtae I think....
poodlepal, I am confused about Mr. Im - isn't he the grandson of granny?

Mr. Im is Granny's grandson, he's the son of the guy that was killed during the war by Mr Cha, his mother died during labor, he was raised by Mr. Cha and Ms. Cha as his son...

now talking in the same vein... does the coffee girl(good for nothing nephew after) live in the same household as Eunhi and her mother...
How long Mr.Cha is expecting to ward off the Granny not running into Eunhi's mother... apparently small town.. every one seems to be congregating same market place... then we have .. out of the blue some police man from old town after 20 years recognizes a bespectacled and well dressed Mr.Cha on a chance encounter..
Our heroine Eunhi seems good at everything- cooking, cleaning, stitching, managing the books a la Samsengi..

sara79 - yes, Coffee Girl lives in the same house with them as well as Jeongtae and another worker from the tofu factory....
lol.....thinking back to our modern dramas which take place in Seoul, a large city and remember how people always seemed to go to the safe cafe and department store, this appears to be a fairly small town....and right, that cop had a very good memory - I didn't recognize Cha for a few days until someone here made the connection.... and they hadn't seen each other for two decades.....

OK, let me get this straight. Mr. Cha had a dying son. He asked Eunhui's dad for some money. He gave him a watch. He went to Mr. Im Sr. for the rest of the money. Mr. Im Sr. tried to strangle him. Mr. Cha pushed Mr. Im Sr. and he died. Mr. Cha ran off. Young Master Cha died. Eunhui's Dad happened upon the body and was charged (watch was evidence?) Mr. Cha was about to turn himself in when the war broke out. Eunhui's dad died. Mr. Cha saved Granny Im and "adopted" the son of the man he killed Granny hates Eunhui's Mom because she proclaimed her husband's innocence.
The Eunhui family is back in town (except for the father, who's only a ghost/memory) They live with a large amount of people, Jeongtae, coffee girl, bangs girl (?) and a couple of middle aged men Mr. Cha is worried that Grandma Im will run into Eunhui's Mom And do what? Cause a scene? Destroy her soup business? Run her out of town? Or just be really awkward?
Eunhui's Mom is innocent. I can see why Granny Im wouldn't want to run into her, but what is she really going to do?

Back to the beginning - it was so traumatic for granny to have had Eunhui's mom come pleading to her that her husband was innocent - I guess it would still be traumatic and in her advanced age cause shock....and no the watch had nothing to do with it - Eunhui's dad was covered with blood while trying to save the son and granny jumped to the conclusion that he was responsible.
And most importantly....if Eunhui's dad didn't do it, who did.....Mr. Cha has a guilty conscience and is having anxiety attacks already.

Oh, I know why Mr. Cha is worried, but I imagine he could blame it all on some random intruder, unless a witness shows up. I wonder if that cop suspects something.

Hey folks, just saying Hi. I have been downloading episodes from the Internet and am 1 or 2 behind. When I catch up I will chime in. Enjoying Eunhui so far. Samsaeng was new to me so I had no frame of reference. Now I have a little frame of reference. For the record I thought Samsaeng was pretty and likable. And I think Eunhui is attractive. No makeup, plain hairstyle, drab clothes. She is supposed to be sort of poor and plain. That's how it starts. We've got to start somewhere.
Otherwise, I am figuring out who is who and who is connected with whom. I am getting used to the slow pacing of the TV Novel. Different from Evening TV dramas where things are resolved in 60 minutes, or a 2 hour movie. But little in life is resolved in 60 minutes, or 2 hours. The TV Novel pace is more like real life.
