Had my first taste today and I think I made a bad choice of going with Bi Bim Bap or perhaps it was where I bought it. I met up with my husband and we went to an International Deli of sorts on 32nd street near MSG. All I could taste was Sesame oil and garlic. I should've had some pork belly instead maybe.

What is Bi Bim Bap again? Is that the veggie one? I still haven't had any Korean food, unless you count Kimchi flavoured ramen, ;D.

I think with Korean food you have to go with someone who knows what to order. My wife & I love Thai, Chinese, japanes & vietnamese but didnt have luck ordering the few times we tried Korean a long time ago. I had frozen stuff that I pick up in the Korean supermarket I go to. I had those fish shaped sweet bean paste cakes that Piljae got for Anna. They also have varieties of kimchi which I tried and it was really spicy.

I think so too about going with someone knowledgable, Dodgerman. It seems they put kimchi and pepper paste in everything. No wonder they keep so thin with all that pepper and cabbage.

I know. In this store, they have awhole section for kimchi and a lady making it. I've tasted the cuke kimchi which was good and bought a little of the regular cabbage which was spicy. There also is radish which looks interesting,.

There's an HMart on W 32nd Street in Manhattan - I just googled it - I am not that found of kimchi....when I was in Japan I went to the basement food market of Takashimaya in Kyoto and there was a big display of kimchi there and samples - I had a small bite... But there's loads of other Korean food. I think we all could do some research and figure it out if we really want to meet up.....

I go to the Korean restaurants in New Jersey all the time. My family and I go to Palisades Park. They're fabulous. My favorite thing on the menu is sweet potato noodles. My husband and son love the barbecue. We try new things all the time. If anyone ever wants to do a field trip in NJ, I am happy to help organize it. Also, in Palisades Park is a great Korean Spa. HOwever, the one in Queens, NY is the BEST.
