I didn't want to mess up the greetings thread, so I started this one, if that's alright.
We hear the phrase that sounds like 'Oh-toh-keh' a lot when a character gets into trouble. I searched relentlessly and found that it's actually spelled 'eotteohge', phonetically, and it means "What do I do?". The whole phrase is eotteohge haeyahanayo.

Thanks for starting the new thread, lisa... Yes, I hear that often as well - sounds like autokay.....more or less - so I guess it sort of means 'WTF' ....lol

LOL, Mara! Another meaning I saw was 'How?'.

I find it almost frightening how much Korean I have picked up without trying just by watching these dramas for about 6 - 7 years now.....I certainly can't speak at all but sometimes I don't look at the esubs, if they're going slowly, until after I listen to the actors talk....and amaze myself with what I understand....of course it does help to know the story and the characters to figure it out...lol...
