Hello Board, i am new here and i am confused.
There are two k-dramas currently airing in NYC but yet they aren't showing up on this board.
The k-dramas are "Tasty Life" and "Bride of the Sun"
Are there reasons why these two dramas aren't being covered?
Thanks, and i am very much looking forward to posting on here.

Welcome trini2001! What channel are you watching those two dramas on? The dramas we are watching are on WMBC a local channel from New Jersey that is on basic cable tv - not the MBC that is a Korean premium channel on some cable services.... wmbctv.com/channel63-1.htmlOn some cable tv it is channel 18.....are you in the NY/NJ area and do you get that channel? If you are watching on KBS which I don't have - not available on my Verizon FIOS you might check on the California board......

After further research I found out these dramas are on the Korean premium station SBS - I don't subscribe to the Korean Premium bundle on FIOS......although it does have SBS but it doesn't have KBS which seems more interesting. trini2001 - do these dramas have esubs?

Hi Mara,
Yes, I am watching the dramas on SBC ( I m not even Korean, but i got hooked on k-dramas since college and I have been watching them nonstop. i use to watch them on KBS then they abruptly stopped including English subtitles). I am on Timewarner cable here in NYC and i am not sure that any non-premium Korean channels are available.
I am also on the Cali board but it would have been very cool to have been able to chat as well with my fellow east coast ppl on the dramas.
All the k-dramas on SBC carry English Subtitles.

Trini, I just checked the Southern Manhattan TW channels and I saw WMBC Independent listed on channel 63 - if that is the TW you have why don't you check it out. The Monday through Friday drama comes on between 9:22 and 9:27 and is Dear My Sister. The weekend drama - a historical - just started this weekend so you haven't missed much and it starts around 9 pm..... I don't think any of us on the board are Korean either. I discovered kdramas accidentally back in 2005 and have also been watching ever since.

Welcome trini2001, I have Cablevision which has limited KDramas as mara said. I also have Cablevison and watch daily and weekend drama on ch20. They do have a premium selection one is ch63 and there are two more. I used to have 63 but found I could watch the same dramas on various sites with a low yearly fee which is cheaper then two months of premium cable and no commercials!

Thank you all for your welcomes. Myoko, i see that it was your birthday a few days ago, Happy Belated Birthday, Hope you had a wonderful B-day. Thank you all for attempting to point me in the right direction in being able to view the similar k-dramas as you all. How very considerate, i am liking this board a lot already. Such warmth Mara, you are too kind, thanks for taking the time to find that TW channel for me. I started viewing "Dear My Sister', I guess it has to grow on me, especially since i didn't pick it up from day one. I will look at the missed episodes online and see where it takes me. Grace and Myoko, i have access to Cablevision when i am on Long island, but in my area there isn't a channel 63. There is however a channel 20, which i will look into. But it is really a pity that no one is watching Bride of the Sun or even the weekend drama Tasty Life. They are both very good. If they do come to WMBC I will watch them again and come on here to join in the chatter (don't worry I wont ever reveal any spoilers). Have a wonderful day and a great week to you all. Thanks again

Trini - well, maybe if you read our discussion of Dear My Sister - it will help you figure it out....what about the weekend historical - I checked out the wiki page for Bride of the Sun and saw that the older actor is in King Geunchogo.....
As far as them coming to WMBC - they pretty much seem to have KBS dramas except for High Kick....
Yes, we are a nice small group here and are happy to have a new member. ;D
