Poodlepal, you're a scream! It seems like every drama has at least one spineless person. We're so lucky -- this one has 3!

I guess I'm a masochist - I actually watched all the episodes I missed when I was away.....I hope this gets to be a bit cheerier - as said above Bokhui and her mom are so beaten up by the rest of the family - oy! And the husband/winery owner can't overrule his mother because she is the family elder - double oy! Yes, it does seem strange they have no running water - and the winery owner's sister has such a hard life doing nothing that she needs a nanny - give me a break! There certainly is a nasty streak running in the 3 generations of women in that family, except for the younger girl who seems pretty okay most of the time.
Questions: Do we really know if Bokhui's mom and the husband had an affair when his first wife was alive or is that just the elder daughter's belief? Why did Bokhui's mom leave her family behind? Was her husband having an affair with Boknam's mom?

I was actually going to watch episode 1 to answer your question, but I decided that I had already suffered enough on Good Friday! So I watched episode 45 instead. I'm optimistic that the show will get a little better. By this time, there are no orphans or poor children, so at least that aspect is over. I'll write something over at spoilers.

Mara. Bokhui's Mom left her family to run off to Seoul with another woman's husband. She was played by the wine shop owner in King Gwantgaeto.

Mara. Bokhui's Mom left her family to run off to Seoul with another woman's husband. She was played by the wine shop owner in King Gwantgaeto. dodgerman, wasn't that her stepmom? I meant her birth mom, the one she is with now.....there have been a couple of flashbacks showing her leaving while a very young Bokhui is crying and being held by the father....

-Mara Bokhui's birthmum and birthfather divorced each other and as the custom goes, the father got sole custody of Bokhui. I don't know how Bokhui got to be with the Madame and her son, And I don't remember if it was mentioned.
-We don't know if Maidwife and winery owner had an affair for sure, evil stepdaughter is just an angry troll who keeps specualting such because her father treats maidwife so well.

I thought Bokhui's father had an affair with the woman who owned the bar, and made Bokhui's mother leave.

door60 I think that you are right, the women bar owner had an affair with Bokhui's father, she got pregnat with the boy Bokham, and that's why Bokhui's birthmom left. She said to Boukhui that the reason that she left her father was Bokham, then the father died on a mine accident...

Thanks, myoko, door60 and latina for clarifying that....I thought that as well and I think I heard Bokhui's mom tell her something about being upset looking at Boknam.....which makes sense if her husband had an affair with his mom....

They do have the Bok thing going on in their names too, and similiar name beginnings or endings almost always mean there's some blood relation going on, ha ha.

OK I really, really, really hate most of the women in this show! I think the only ones I like are BokHui and that Nurse! Oh but the ending was good, Bokhui calling Maidwife Oma, that was priceless.
