No it wasnt too bad. I'm okay as long as they keep the story line on the kids. The doc father is stupid and his wife is dumber. Is the dopey police detective who interviewed Mom the boy who makes the weapons on The Great Sejong???

Of course, what would a K-drama be without constipation and poop jokes/references.

I am so glad I found this board! Thanks mara! On one hand, I miss the "regular" style K-dramas that used to be on in this slot. You know them: three families, one rich with furniture, one poor that mainly sits on the floor, a medium rich one that lives in a high rise, at least one mean mother-in-law and one child/adult child of uncertain parentage. On t he other hand, though, the last 4 dramas they've shown were not as good as the first 4 I saw, beginning with Bizarre Bunch and ending with Likable or Not. They were heavier and mopier and more farfetched. You are My Destiny had the horrible sending where the hero gave her bone marrow to a woman who treated her like garbage (and they completely dropped the subplat that she was the long lost daughter of the family who took her in.) The Road Home had the heroine miscarry after her ex hhusband pushed her (and they completely dropped the subplot that he was gay.) The last two had long, drawn out mopes about if a man should p ick his first or second wife (in both cases, wife #2 won.)
Maybe this rather crass but funny (I laughed out loud last night) show is what we need.

Welcome, poodlepal - another CA/cjk board refugee... ;-) Lol, your descriptions of the previous dramas are right on the money - pretty much formulaic - but this one, I don't know, a bit too much juvenile toilet humor but I'm hanging in although I have missed a couple of nights.....

Welcome poodlepal. Its good to have another voice. So far, I can take or leave this one. I was out for NYE last night and didnt even bother to tape it. I cant see the lady doc married to the fat lazy slob and the mother is stupid. I like the 2 young boys-Beom & Minho and the girl they are after with the makeup artist scary Dad. Hopefully, the girl who came back from Russia and her ex will meet so maybe there will be fireworks there.

Tonight - Tuesday - I laughed out loud for the first time.....I think it was when Yunho put the young woman teacher up on the basketball hoop and left her there....and then the male teacher and two young kids were going to help her get down and she made them turn away so they couldn't see her undies and she fell and they couldn't see to catch her.....it wasn't that funny I guess, but it got to me.... ;D

I guess this is what passes for a sitcom in Korea. It would be much more tolerable without the fat son and the Mom.

The show is fairly funny. I like Britcoms, and it reminds me a little bit of them. It's definitely a different kind of humor. The fat mother and son--who aren't really fat, they just have round faces--are funny, but I can't see either of them married to a doctor. I believe this comedy becomes like Desperate Housewives or Soap, with a lot of dark humor and murders, etc. The sequel "High Kick through the Roof" had a controversial ending that people complained about all over the web. I won't give it way, in case it ever comes on here, but it's not hard to find on Google.

I saw a bit of High Kick through the Roof when I briefly had a premium Korean channel when I first got Verizon FIOS - no esubs though. I only recognize the doctor father - quite sure none of the others actors, certainly the older son, his wife and the mother were not in it.....
I watch some Britcoms as well, poodlepal, like Are You Being Served, and Keeping Up Appearances, which I guess you could say had some similar type of humor although a bit less bodily function oriented.....
