I confess I am struggling with the longer format and don't watch the entire episode usually.
Let me see if I have been able to follow.
Family #1: The Lees Mr. and Mrs. Lee had two daughters. Mr. Lee had an affair with a poor woman and got her pregnant, then one day mysteriously came home with an "orphan" which he gave to his wife, who raised her (no formal adoptions, visits from social workers or anything like that, mind you). The girlfriend became famous, but thinks the baby was in an orphanage and adopted by strangers.
Dad was hit by a car after getting reunited with girlfriend Song Miryeong, who witnessed the accident but won't come forward as a witness.
The three daughters. #1. Divorced daughter. Divorced. Friends with bakery guy. #2. Snooty daughter. She has some job and she's going out secretly with dermatologist boy. #3. Sunsin, the star of the show.
OK, so the CEO had a bet that he could make anyone a star, so he picked Sunsin and sent her to lessons with the woman who is her biological mother. If he could make her a star, he could be the agent of Yuneo, who is the adopted daughter of Song Miryeong. Also taking lessons was Maroon Headed girl, who is the sister of the dermatologist? the CEO?
CEO has a father with rare facial hair who you don't see much. Also, there's a guy with a chicken restaurant, because why wouldn't there be? I'm not sure who he knows or is related to.
So, where we left off--Sunsin's mother is cold to her because she knows that she is the result of her dead husband's affair, Song Miryeong's helper is going around trying to find the 20 year old baby, and everyone now knows the divorced sister is divorced.
If I'm missing something important, let me know.

I'm not 100% convinced that Mr. Lee was Sunshin's father - it really seems to go against what his personality seemed like - I could see if she were older than the other two. But Sunshin does seem like she is the child of Miryeong. Also Miryeong seemed to think Sunshin was Mr. Lee's daughter not THEIR daughter......remains to be seen.
Yuneo (sp?) is not really Miryeong's adopted daughter- she just calls her Ma.....
The Maroon Headed girl is Ijeong, sister of the CEO and daughter of the dermatologist man as against dermatologist boy....
The chicken man is the father of the dermatologist boy and young woman who is also Sunshin's friend. He and Mr. Lee were from the same hometown - as evidently was Miryeong's manager.
You definitely have the gist of it!

OK.
Lees--Dad (dead); Mom; 3 daughters, one granddaughter CEO's family--Dad is a dermatologist, Mom doesn't do much, two kids, CEO and Maroon Girl Dermatologist family--Dad is chicken man, two kids: Dermatologist and the girl who works somehow with CEO boy.
OK, got it. I'll try to stay awake better this week, LOL!

Episode 21---how weird is that? When Old Actress asks IU what her birthday is, she replies"March 7, 1990"---That is today!!! That is freaky!!! Her next question should have been--"Can I have some of your hair or spit???

Geez, I had no idea - barely know what day it is no less the date....it is weird since I just caught up today after doubling up over the weekend....
So I am still confused as to who Sunshin's dad is.....
My favorite character is the Baker...he's hilarious...
I can't believe how high those heels the women wear are.....I couldn't walk one yard like that...I dumped the few heels I had a couple of decades ago....

I noticed that, too. Happy Birthday, Sunshin!
The only way I will be able to participate in the club is if you guys help me. I can't watch an entire episode, either from work or fatigue. So I will write what I remember and if I miss anything, please tell me.
Episode 21.
Song Miryeong (old actress) figures out that Sunshin is her daughter. Mom tells Granny that Sunshin's father is her cheating dead husband (if he really is remains to be seen, but she thinks so). Uju is rude to Bakery Boy and snatches something out of his hand. Chicken woman yells at Snotty sister--Yusin? for wearing a short skirt and stiletto heels, then her daughter wears the same thing.
Anything else of importance that I missed? There are also 15 minute summaries on Bryan Ong's channel, but it only has the main plot, not the other two sisters.

www.dramabeans.com/tag/youre-the-best-lee-soon-shin/page/2/I'm happy to help but I really think my memory is going downhill, but dramabeans seems to go into a lot of detail with its recaps - see above link. I think you got the basics of ep 21....how do you watch it? Can you not fast forward a bit? I watch it on my computer at KBS Youtube and I think I could fast forward or at least jump a bit if I wanted to. If I move my cursor along the time bar at the screen bottom - I watch it full screen - I can see photos of the ep and could follow along a bit I guess if I was short on time....hope you understand what I'm trying to say.... btw, what is Bryan Ong's channel?

It's on YouTube--he does 15 minute summaries of every episode, just the key scenes played over a ballad of some sort. I just discovered it, I caught up with ep. 20 that way. Thanks for the link, I'll read along. I watch on a very comfy couch around 9:30 and that is the problem!

OK, here's my opinion at almost the halfway point. I've been awake for two episodes and can finally form an opinion.
This show is the exact same show as Love on a Rooftop. It has the exact same plot. This shows that it is not the standard, repetitive plots that determine a show's success but the execution thereof. The execution of You Are The Best is much, much better.
Main Plot: Rich woman comes back to wreak revenge on a family who dissed her in the past, or more specifically, the son of which impregnated her in the past. In Rooftop, it was implied her child was one of the leads, but they later decided that the baby was dead, so the revenge plot fell flat. He could have conned her out of her money or something else to get her so mad. This appeared to be one of those "changed at the last minute" plots and it's largely what wrecked that show. In Lee Sunshin, at least the rich lady's baby lived to be an important character in the show.
In Sunshin, the vengeful rich lady is a sympathetic character who has to listen to barbs about being unmarried all the time. In Rooftop, she seems mainly obsessed over her dead mother's ashes.
Rich Boy. Rich Boy in Rooftop was a bit of a fool. He threw away an expensive career, got engaged to someone he didn't love, and waffled in general. In Sunshin, he seems to be a man of integrity who feels guilty over the bet.
Main Girl. Sunshin is sort of a lovable loser, which makes her more sympathetic than the star of Rooftop, who was the best nurse, coffee maker and tea brewer ever to live, and had two hotties to choose from.
Woman who Spent the Night with a Doctor: These plots are about equal in both. Yusin's not pregnant and probably didn't do anything, but I wouldn't be surprised if there were twins in her future.
Chicken family: They made a mistake in Rooftop by introducing a cute kid and then forgetting about him (or maybe it didn't work out with the actor--not sure). Overall, both chicken families are the same in quality, though.
Grannies. Exactly the same. I'm not even sure it's two different actresses. All Grannies are the same, anyway.
Bakery Boy. They were wise to have three sisters, so one could have a baker husband and one could have a doctor husband. Trying to have a baker/doctor rolled up in one guy was too confusing.
So, you see, exact same show, but Lee Soon Shin's writers learned from their mistakes!

Pretty good assessment. I like this so much better than LOART. By episode 25 in LOART, I was already fast forwarding through most of it. I like the fact that it is not a 6 month ordeal of dragged out plot and forgotten plots. Plus, there is no comparison between IU who is super cute and the nurse, barista, pastry girl.

Well, the granny is the same actress in both.....and the rich woman in LOART is the same actress as the dermatologist's wife both rich but different otherwise.
I like this better also - to me it has better actors even though some are the same.
Yes, aspects of the plot are very similar but that seems to be the case in most of these family dramas....
And IU is supercute but so are the CEO, young dermatologist and restaurant manager imo....although the guys in LOART were pretty nice as well....

You Are The Best aired in 2013 and LOART aired in 2015 so i guess that latter copied some of the plot lines from the former

Finished the first half--now we get to play Who's Your Daddy??? If it is not Dead dad, who can it be----Bakery Boy, Cafe Manager, Young DermaDoc & Ceo are all too young. Old Derma Doc would mean IU & CEO are half sibs. Not Chicken Man or the Manager---who is left?

Yes, I meant to say above that Miryeong made it clear that Dead Dad is not Sunshin's dad.... So maybe someone we don't know....the others in the correct age group are Old Derma Doc and Chicken Man but the latter was a close friend of DD so unlikely I think.....

I watched the recap tonight on Bryan Ong, and he didn't show that. Did she say that? Manager Hwang said something about her father, implying that he was still alive, but as far as I could tell Mrs. Lee was still pretty angry at her late husband, implying he was the father.
The only person it could be would be the the dermatologist, which means that the CEO and Sunshine will not get together at the end, but it will have a bittersweet ending. Lord, I hope I'm wrong, though, this is a good one and I'd hate to have it end badly.
Let's hope a new character shows up later.
Hmm--could it be the ex-husband? I know he's going to show up later (I saw someone playing him on a cast list). We assume that he's the same age as Hyesun, but who knows?
Figure Sunshine is 23 in 2013, Hyesin is about 33, if her husband is 45 or so, he could be Sunshin's dad and still be considered husband material for Hyesin. Miryeong is around 55 or so, so she could have a young boyfriend at one point.
Just speculation, but it's something we haven't seen yet.
