Since this drama's finally winding down, I'm wondering how the characters rate on the "Likability Scale" (invented by me who has a gazillion other things to do but, what the hell, it's Sunday).
My favorites are Mun and Grannie, as far as likability. They're both true to themselves and honest with others. He's a big puppy and she's the best MIL I've ever seen in a K-drama. I like Junwu too. Everything he's feeling shows on his face; no mask, no stiffness.
Jinwu and Gyeong... are OK. The former tries to behave like a gentleman in spite of that crazy mother of his; the latter ditto even tho his girlfriend, like her mom, never lets loose. Nayun is OK too but I liked her better when she had a backbone. Her little sister is too, too perky. Why do they force all the good little K-drama kids to act bouncy all the time?
Suhyeon and Yunjeong I suppose are meant to embody the virtues of restraint and femininity. But I wouldn't want them as friends. I'd always be afraid of saying the wrong thing.
Not Dead Dad is tolerable in a difficult situation but too under the thumb, up until now, of La Baracuda. Rughead Dad has grown on me. I thought he was going to be a lose cannon but now he speaks with the voice of reason. And he's a good FIL.
Han is easy to ignore.I don't like him or not like him. Jingyeong and Auntie are pains in the you-know-where. They're not even interesting enough to be villains. Dongja, on the other hand, has some complexity but I don't trust her. She's another one I'd keep away from.
The least likable, of course, are the baddies, Cuda Mom, Cheol, and now Lady Investor. But their evil is what keeps the plot going and they're fun to watch.
Did I leave anybody out?

I think that's it. I still like Jinwu and that's about it for me. You'd think when Nayun lost her backbone he'd pick it up and use it, but no. I'm still seeing that baby vulture from loony tunes lol. Oh and I like Min too. I don't know how to feel towards Taesu, I just find him slow moving. Same for Suhyeon, Min's a patient dude. Granny and Taesu's 'widow' are ok too but Junwu is a turn off.
The characters I want to see have a rough life are many: Han for being an idiot; his wife whom I won't say much about or I'll surely get a stroke lol; Cheol, the dad and aunt, and Cuda mom are right up there with Han; and Dongja the bad-minded sprat. I don't get how the father saw any good in Jingyscrewface. From the moment she found out Han and Sue were together and Jingy still chased after him, I wrote Jingy off. There's nothing she can do to make me like her as a character.

Mun is too much like those goofy coworkers in every K-drama. I like Cutie Nayun now that she stopped crying her little eyeballs out every ep. I 'm sure I'm the only one but I like Jingy. She has a little Subin in her-she lets it fly and argues back-she doesnt just get that SO Sorry Sabby look on her face and eat all the insults. The rest all are blah. The show is so slow that nothing has happened so the characters are dull.

I usually sympathize with the villains of K-Dramas. They're not as bad as some of the fans make them out to be, and they usually have solid reasons for doing bad things. That said...I want to go upside Cheol's head with a frying pan. Hate him! He's not even a good villain, either. The scene where Jinwu and Nayun were in the hallway, he just stood there and watched like a creeper. If he was a good villain, he would've done a House, that is, made an exaggerated face and a pointed comment about the awkwardness of the situation. (Mean, but it would've been funny, yes?)
As far as my likes, I like Jinwu and Grandma (can't remember Grandma's name, but she's awesome). Kind of varying degrees of 'meh' on everyone else with the exception of Nayun and Evil Mom. I don't like them. Not enough backbone between the two of them.

lol lee!! Cheol's looks do make him come off vicious at times too, especially when he would grab Nayun's hand.

Did he really give up on Nayun? It looks as if he and the Horned Investor plan to sink Unicorn, then he can offer to let Mrs. Na keep her job in exchange for her daughter's hand. Or something like that.
And isn't Junwu's mom a bit of a toad?

I can't stuff Junwu's mother one bit. I think it was wednesday's ep when they were at a store and Yun came out in a suit and Junwu complimented her after his mum did and the mum had to say somethine like "I complimented her already so stop." The writers really know how to develop characters that make your blood boil.

She rubs me the wrong way. She has very set, very traditional ideas of femininity and what it means to be a wife, and she has no problem imposing them on her son's fiancee.

Yes, that whole part about Yungeong (sp?) not being able to introduce her daughter or other relatives at the wedding as MIL wants her family and guests to think this is her first marriage. I really don't know how they went along with that crap.....really too much. I guess the fact that she always wears the hanbok shows how traditional she is.....most of them just wear it for special occasions. Even Han and Cheol's father seems to have given up his traditional outfit.

Sometimes these dramas make you wonder if the so-called adults are really the adults. Their ability to block out, look down on, and dictate to the others is amazing. They're more like spoilt pickneys. ;D

Rude pickney bwais and sanfi dawtas! (Sorry, eny; couldn't resist.)
Anyway, Toad Mom is already dictating how Yun should live; sell the business, dress better, cook and clean, and, and, and, for her son. I'll bet she has plans to move in! But I can't understand why she wants them to live together BEFORE the wedding. How traditional is that?

puppy, these MILs are pretty much the queens of the domain when the sons get married. She wants her to hurry up and move in so she can start bossing her around with impunity. lol

Mechanic Mom is between 45 & 53ish if Suhyeon is 27. What women that age and with her life experience would put up with Junwu's Mom's crap about selling the garage and not telling anyone that Suhyeon is her daughter. What is the shame that she was married before-she is not divorced, her husband is supposed to be dead.

puppy, I never knew the term sanfi dawtas before lol.
Gees, you think they'd bring in the new characters to make the drama more pleasant and easy on the brain, but they missed the mark terribly.

I have been reading your comments and had to join.I am so happy to see there are others who think so much is just really bad writing. What is with the writers of Korean Drama? ? Have they never watched TV. Last week I came across a Korean Drama called Someday and it was GREAT. Modern, interesting ....well done. It is on just Thursday nights .....I think around 9pm. For me CHA CHA is on Comcast....Mind TV 265. This was on 264 Global Mind. OK...I deviated from the sublject. This show we are watching is really bad. Could you just smack Taesu when he stares....maybe he does need those glasses that he left behind. He and Crazy Mom run a company!!?? Did you ever notice that there are about 10 employees that work there making cookies and one hallway. Anyway, I have watched so many Dramas in the past few years that I feel like Grandmoms house is my own. Same blue doors , same table in the courtyard, same alley. Before I get off this tirade I have a question. Does anyone know if this is how Korean families really live their lives??? Everyone runs to their bedroom with very little interaction between family members unless they are eating. (I think I figured out that it is a custom to eat breakfast together but you are not required to eat dinner together) I apologize for ranting on and on!
