Maybe they de-gayed her and dropped the storyline that she was a long-lost daughter, like they did on the show with Subin sending the girl to Russia. No, wait, my bad. Those are two separate shows. The de-gayed guy was from the Road Home and the dropped long lost daughter was from the one where Subin sent the would-be daughter to Russia.
Anyway, I saw on the coming attractions that he's divorced. So--he still loves her, he's no longer married, she obviously loved him based on how she cried and carried on. Get married, end of story.
Like I said, he'd better turn out to be a pretty bad person. If he's a nice guy and she won't marry him, she just looks sort of stupid.

lol...I'm a day ahead of you guys so he already sort of explained the issue....he seems nice enough and is obviously doing well but otoh he said he divorced the other woman after less than two months and it has taken him more than a year to contact Areum even though he claims he always loved her.....he seems to have her cell phone number....

In all my years watching Korean TV, I saw for the first time an important character in the drama not only put together a complete sentence in English but also carry on an extended telephonic conversation in English. Well, I am talking about the investor businessman and purported daddy of Baby T. !!!!

It still is good that they have the subtitles when they try to speak English. Even some of the Anglo actors are hard to understand.

Either they can't act, their English isn't up to standards, or they are speaking like language tapes so the Koreans can understand them. I remember on "High as the Sky" how the white INS agent spoke to Lazy Son:
"Your Wife Says The Kids Are Bonding With Her New Husband So You Can't Be Allowed In the Country." (I had big spaces between the words here, but they didn't format that way. Anyway, he spoke really slowly and concisely). Like they would really care! More likely he hadn't been on a waiting list for 15 years.

I always find it interesting in so many of the dramas that they use Western music - often it sounds familiar but it is just a bit too much in the background for me to distinguish what it is.
So Monday my next ep will be back home....

Nobody has much to say about this show. In my opinion it is just "meh."
Much of my decision on whether I like it depends on BabyDaddy's story as to why he left her and why he's back. I hope he's evil and he's here because he found out that his first wife had no money and that Areum is about to become the minister's daughter. Then we'll have some real conflict as she eventually defeats him. If he's sincerely sorry he left her, or he was pushed into it as an arranged marriage or whatever, I am not sure why will not go back to him except her pride is hurt.
Unfortunately, the way it is cached on Youtube, the last episode is listed first, so I see the first few minutes of the grand finale before I find the right episode. (I saw TJ about to leap to his death 102 times with "Angel's Revenge.") From what I can gather, this is not a crime type of story and BabyDaddy is not evil in any way).

poodlepal, I agree with you .. it is just "meh." Again, you can not blame the writers.. they took the known formula and sticking to it so far... we have some business set up- here it is Fashions industry, two rich families, a middle class family and then we have low middle class odd ball family... some birth issues, more than one suitors for our heroine.. we have yet to see real criminal villains.. by the way, with all its problems you kind of like the odd ball family..let us see what unfolds in the coming episodes.. otherwise, it will be a snoozefest.

The oddball family are the only ones who are not liars. Well, OK, the father is a bit of a con artist, but he's essentially a good guy.
Here's something I don't understand--maybe those of you who have traveled to Korea get it better than I do.
There seems to be a big stigma against premarital sex (for women, at least) and out-of-wedlock children. OK. But they let the daughters go abroad without any sort of a chaperone or anything like that. In other cultures where they still have those stigmas at that level, that wouldn't happen. Is that realistic?
I'm watching "What Happens to My Family" on the weekend, and so far it is better than this, but it is long! Those uncut weekend shows take a toll on you, LOL!

Most of the Asian cultures have seen a dramatic liberalization of sexual attitudes in recent decades. But while the premarital sex has become common, unmarried motherhood remains a taboo in most of the Asian countries. Even in this day and age the family honor is something most Asian families die for. This is something most westerners can not understand.

I like this one - I feel badly for that baby - being taken from one place to another all the time. I don't know anything more about Korean culture than all the dramas I have watched. But for Areum's dad to want to send the baby to an orphanage seems strange to me. And poor Areum, after tonight's episode, thinking her ex doesn't like babies - she seemed about to tell him the truth before he said that.
I also like the aunt, uncle and kid - they seem more down to earth and sort of realistic if such exists in dramas. The aunt particularly seems more open to dealing with the reality of the situation.

Does anyone really care about the owner of the bar & the guitar girl??? That's the problem with these long, drawn out shows--they have to bring in extraneous characters just to fill the time

I haven't watched in a couple of days. I think they should focus exclusively on the fat family, guitar girl, etc. and forget about the main story. Watching this woman and her baby get rejected by everyone for 100 episodes (even if they come around eventually) will be torture. They need a cheesy musical or a truly evil character or something to liven it up.
