I too noticed the "change" in the previews last night. I guess the writers felt they had the whole love triangle explained to the viewers. Sammy and spoiled brat like quiet, study boy. Bicycle boy likes Sammy and seemed jealous at last night's close. Looking forward to Monday's night episode. ;D So...what did Doc tell pharmacy man to do as a favor? Maybe to report to him as to what Mr. Sa says about Sammy. Doc seemed to have really looked at Sa's reaction when maid was telling them about the pharmacy man wife's visit. I'm hoping he is suspicious and gathering evidence. Side note: I'm glad we are calling her Sammy. It was a pain to keep looking how to spell Samsaeng. In my mind I call her "Samsung".

I can only follow this about 75% due to the tiny letters. Half the time, when someone comments on a specific comment or scene I have no idea what they're talking about, LOL.
I got the impression that Sammy liked Quiet Boy (Jiseong, I think). Jiseong liked Spoiled Girl (Geomok) but Ms. Spoiled liked Tough Orphan (Don't know his name) who liked Sammy. Nobody likes or is liked by the same person.

On mine I have a choice of four different viewing sizes....previously the largest, the one that I use now for this drama, would cut off the subs completely - same for the weekend drama - so I think this is something different coming from WMBC.....this function button is on my cable remote control....

Well, at the end of last night's episode, Samsaeng grew up.....so now we will see what has developed in the past few years, I guess....
Have you all given up on this already? ;-)

No yet mara, still watching, but I have to say that I like better young Sammy. The new Sammy, or grow up Sammy doesn't see so charming...

Interesting episode - they sure packed a lot in - well, it's 1969 - how many times did they show us a calendar....lol....
Geumok is prettier but still a b----; Jiseong looks exactly the same except older - same expression as before; Dongwu is less funny-looking and Samsaeng is pleasant looking, I think.
So Pilseung now has a factory making whatever oil she sells and still lives with her bro and SIL - that's weird. And Samsaeng's family now lives in the slums of Seoul - I wonder what happened with that.....
Well, at least it should keep our interest for a while....

I think they did a great job in matching the kids with the adults, they actually look/act similar. I can't stand Sammy's family what a bunch of losers, the only one they didn't show was her brother...where is he? I didn't get half of what was going on because of the small subs but I got most of it. (AND yes, Mara, I zoomed and they are still too small to read from where I watch it.. :0( ) I think I am going to have to rewatch on line everyday to see what I missed at night.
I think Pilseung needs something to calm her down..lol..geezzz

I agree--good casting.
Don't like--see too many parallels to previous "TV novels." Sammy's 18 and already working as a pharmacist despite never going to school? She'll never find a man she loves as much as the herbs!
My prediction is that this will be Bokhui the 2nd, only perhaps not quite as dark. Jiseong is definitely getting in with radicals, headed for prison. I can see Gemok not being allowed to marry Dongwu until her baby dies or something. Hope I'm wrong about that, though.
Overall, I'm cautiously optimistic. I like that there is an evil villain, and I like the poor family. They're stupid and lazy but somehow hold it together.

Oops, wrong about that. They don't hold it together, apparently they got duped out of their little bit of money. Brother from the army is cute--he'll probably fall in love with Gemok then find out they're siblings!

lol, poodlepal....
Wow, Samsaeng's step-father was quite amazing last night imo - he will work and send her to school - who would have thought....
And Mr. Sa, still the same creep, whatever many years later and Geumok still has the same reaction to him as when she was young.....when he exchanged the girls I guess he didn't think that living with the doctor might not make Geumok want to emulate him and follow him into medicine....lol....

I find Mr. Sa's interest in Gemok sort of creepy. Why doesn't Doc question why this guy is living with them and seemingly obsessed by his daughter? I mean, we know why he's so "into" her, but Doc doesn't. Doesn't it strike him as odd?
Also, Western vs. Oriental medicine. Does Oriental medicine actually work? I know acupuncture is considered respectable, but I hope Koreans today aren't taking ginseng etc. instead of penicillin or Norvasc (most common blood pressure pill).

In Asian cultures spanning China to India the Oriental medicine still plays a big role in rural areas because of paucity of western medical doctors availability. Poodlepal.... in the recent years the acupuncture and the yoga have been increasingly used in treatment of patients. In the United States, Traditional Chinese medicine(TCM) is considered part of complementary and alternative medicine. Today, TCM is practiced side by side with Western medicine in many of China’s hospitals and clinics.

You're right sara79, now herbal medicine are easy to find in health stores, Whole Foods supermarkets. One of my son has ADHD he was prescribed medicine of course, I tried but the side effects were worst than his behavior(no sleeping, no eating) I give him herbal supplements combine with therapy recommended by a western doctor who is a homoeopathist. In my son's case it has worked for him, I guess requires more work, more patience it's a longer approach...but I believe western medicine it is the best when your need surgery...

Interesting info on Oriental medicine. I might try it for pain or something like that, where the "Western" option would be nonstop pills with side effects. Certainly, for my bad foot, I'd consider acupuncture. As for ADHD medicine, I had a brief job proofreading pill inserts, and one of the ones I did was generic ritalin. I guess it's the right choice in some cases, but the (potential) side effects were incredible. I'd worry about that, too.
I liked last night's episode. It was almost an episode about nothing. You saw all three families eating dinner and you could compare and contrast them.
Doc's high class family: nice meal, gave gift to nanny, everyone is a member of the loving family. Even bratty girl isn't too bad as of yet. This family is nice.
Pharmacist's middle class family: Big fight over a bowl of soup. This family is tacky and in poor taste.
Desperately poor family: Mother bullied for no apparent reason because she was a slightly lighter shade of brunette. This family is just pathetic, forced to live in that lean-to among crazy people. Notice how the writers have gradually made this family a little nicer than before.
Anyway, good episode. So far so good with this show.
